A lifelong resident of New York City, Councilman Cohen has always had a strong commitment to serving his community. Prior to being elected to the City Council, he served as a legal counsel to Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, as a Court Attorney to a Bronx Supreme Court Justice and most recently taught classes as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
CM Cohen’s dedication to public service extends beyond his professional experiences. He served on his local community board, Bronx Community Board 8, and was elected by his fellow members as both the Chair of the Youth Committee and subsequently as Chair of the Aging Committee. Additionally, he served on the board of the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park, as a member of the
Bronx Bar Association and a member of the New York State United Teachers Union. Andrew Cohen was elected to the City Council on November 5, 2013 and began his term in January 2014. He serves the 11 th Council district which includes the Bronx neighborhoods of Bedford Park, Kingsbridge, Norwood, Riverdale, Van Cortlandt Village, Wakefield and Woodlawn. He resides in Riverdale with his wife, Dr. Heather Erhard, M.D. and their daughter Sarah.
Dr. Tovah Klein
Professional Honoree for Excellence in Early Child Development
Tovah P. Klein, Ph.D. is Director of the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development, a psychology professor at Barnard College and author of How Toddlers Thrive: What Parents Can Do Today for Children Ages 2-5 to Plant the Seeds of Lifelong Success.
Dr. Klein has worked with parents and young children for nearly three decades. Her research over the years has explored parenting challenges, including work and family; children’s play and emotional development; sleep and separation; early memory influences; and child trauma, including the impact of 9/11 on children and parents.
Dr. Klein writes for and is frequently quoted in the media including print, TV, radio and online. She has been called the ‘toddler whisperer’ by Good Morning America. She consults worldwide to programs for young children, was a developmental advisor to Sesame Street, and is an advisor to Children’s Museum of Manhattan, Hunts Point Alliance for Children, Hypothekids, Motherly, Room to Grow, and Ubuntu Education Fund. She lives in New York with her husband and three teenagers.

The service is popular for its distribution of organic food and locally grown items, as well as items that consumers see in supermarkets daily. It also delivers numerous kosher foods and is recognized by the Marine Stewardship Council as a certified sustainable seafood vendor.
Freshdirect became part of the Bronx borough in 2015, when it opened a facility on St. Ann’s Avenue: since then the corporation has employed over 1000 Bronx residents, including several clients of Mosaic Vocational Services.
